Moving Tips & Checklists for Using Transportation Service

  1. Make the reservation 1 to 3 weeks with moving company in advance, to confirm the transportation date and time, especially weekends.
  2. Inform the property management office to arrange suitable elevator and parking area. If it is necessary to change elevators/platforms or requirement to use staircases, please inform the transportation company.
  3. Classify frequently and infrequently used items, the latter could be stored in mini storage to increase the living space at home.
  4. It is not recommended that the weight of each box exceed 20KG.
  5. Large items and furniture should be measured first to evaluate whether they can enter and exit the door and elevator. Disassembly them in case the size is too large.
  6. Check with transportation company which furniture can be disassembled on the spot. For some furniture such as massage chair, it should be disassembled by contacting the supplier in advance.

Household sundries

  • Carton bottom sealing with H word method.
  • Use bubble wrap to pack the household appliances and glass items into plastics box / carton properly. Specify "Fragile items” and “Handle with care” on the exterior of boxes.
  • The weight of each box/bag should not over 20 kg, heavier items should be placed under the lighter items.
  • Make sure each box/bag is full of items, fill with bubble wrap/newspaper if there is any space.
  • Specify the location such as “Living room” or “Kitchen” on the box/bag to find them in new place.

Furniture and household appliances

  • Small appliances should pack with plastic box/ carton and mark with “Fragile items”.
  • Large appliances should remove the electric wire and pack with plastic box/ carton.
  • Refrigerator needs to thaw and dry to avoid water leakage before the day of moving.
  • Washing machine needs to unplug the plug and drainpipe in advance and clean the water inside the drainpipe and drum.
  • Window / spilt air conditioners need to be disassembled by professional technicians in advance.
  • Other furniture such as massage chair, need to contact the supplier for disassemble in advance.
  • Recommended to put all the remote controls into the same plastic box/ carton.

Valuables

  • Valuable and important items such as identity documents, bonds, jewelry, watches and cash should be stored and transported by yourself.
  • If it is necessary to transport the valuables by transportation company, please inform the transportation company in advance.

Organizing

  • Attach a number to each box/bag/large item to facilitate counting the number of items shipped.
  • List out the items for declaring and checking the shipping items.
  1. Notice the fragile items for movers pay careful attention to.
  2. Count the shipping items with transportation company once the items loaded on the truck to ensure items are complete.
  3. Count all the items immediately once the movers unload all the goods.
  4. Check the fragile items for integrity.
  5. Put the infrequently used items deep inside the mini-storage, and frequent used items in the position near the door.
  6. Make sure the mini-storage is locked when leaving.
